But how exactly does dual energy work?

A dual-energy heating system is a hybrid system, combining two energy sources to heat a house or building. The idea is simple: you use electricity at a reduced rate for most of the year, then your system automatically switches to a backup source (usually natural gas) during periods of high demand.

Les 5 étapes pour en bénéficier

Check your eligibility

Our certified electricians will come to you to assess your current heating system and determine the course of action needed (replacement of equipment, connection to the power grid, etc.).

Submit your request and apply for a grant

We’ll prepare your installation proposal and help you apply for the grants available.

Installation

We’ll handle all the installation work to get your dual-energy system up and running. As an added bonus, we’ll install a control panel with an indicator light to let you know when it’s time to switch energy sources, whether you opt for automatic changeover or not.

Certificate of compliance

We’ll provide you with a certificate of compliance. Once you’ve sent it to Hydro-Québec, you’ll benefit from Rate DT.

And you’re all set for dual energy!

Not only will you have a high-performance, cost-effective heating system all year round, but you’ll be making a positive impact by helping us reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 540,000 tons by 2030—the equivalent of taking 125,000 cars off the road.
